Cannabis cures and prevents cancer?

There are recent studies showing that THC reduces and halts the growth of cancer cells up to 40-60% (correct me if I'm wrong). Smoking weed alone does NOT cause cancer. If it did, there would be significant evidence for it. Think about all the people who smoke weed. If weed caused cancer, don't you think the numbers would be pretty high considering the amount of smokers? The people who generally bash weed not only don't smoke, but they listen to the irrational and untrue accusations of reefer madness. The best way to form a solid opinion is finding some neutral websites and getting legit info and not going on Yahoo answers cause you find some really ignorant people trying to seem smart.
